Survivor of family shooting lays mother to rest
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- One local family is sharing some final moments with their mother before she is laid to rest, and the oldest son takes on responsibility for his younger siblings.
This comes after the December 8 shooting in a northeast home near Stewart and Lamb. Police found three people with gunshot wounds.
Police say Antonio Garcia Hendernandez shot his wife, 46-year-old Martha Gonzalez, and her son, Alberto Canez, before fatally turning the gun on himself.
Martha and Alberto were taken to University Medical Center. Martha died, but Alberto survived.
Alberto said he hopes this tragedy will raise awareness of domestic violence and give other victims strength to get out before it's too late.
A memorial account is set up under Martha's name at Wells Fargo. Donations will help pay for the funeral and get the family members back on their feet.
