Traffic committee reaching out to public to reduce accidents
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A newly formed traffic safety committee, brought together by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, amid the uptick in tragic traffic and pedestrian deaths, is seeking community members interested in being part of the public outreach effort to reduce deaths on Valley roads.
The Southern Nevada Traffic Safety Committee, made up of community partnerships and private citizens met in Nov. and created the group. The goal is to make Nevada the benchmark nationwide on community involvement to increase road and pedestrian safety.
Those involved in the outreach effort encourage family members and friends to discuss the five key areas the committee has identified its priority:
- Accidents do not take holidays
- Vehicles do not discriminate
- Every distraction is impairment
- Not using a crosswalk may be your last short cut
- We all want to make it home
The SNTSC will be hosting future meetings. The next location will be held at Kaplan College with a date to be announced later.
