Sandoval appoints Elaine Wynn to Nevada school board
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- Gov. Brian Sandoval has appointed Wynn Resorts Ltd. board member Elaine Wynn to the Nevada Board of Education.
Sandoval called her a vocal advocate for improving education in the state. Her term on the board begins in January.
Wynn has served as state co-chair for the Education Reform Blue Ribbon Task Force, which was formed to submit a state application for the federal Race to the Top grant competition and to make reform recommendations to the state Legislature.
Wynn has also served as founding chairman of Communities In Schools of Nevada and is the current chairman of the national board of Communities In Schools.
She moved to Las Vegas in 1967 with her former husband, Wynn Resorts CEO Steve Wynn.
