Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The victim and the shooter in Friday's murder-suicide at Excalibur have been identified.

They were 30-year-old Jessica Corinne Kenny of Las Vegas and Edward C. Brandt from Lake Forest, Illinois, the Clark County Coroner's Office said.

Police said Edward Brandt walked into the Excalibur lobby just after 8:30 p.m., shooting Jessica Kenny before turning the gun on himself.

Jessica Kenny was rushed to University Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

Edward Brandt was declared dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives said it appeared there was a previous dating relationship between the man and woman. Still, investigators don't know what prompted the shooting.

Coworkers say Jessica Kenny was employed with VEGAS.com, but was a contracted worker at Excalibur.

"We were saddened to learn that a member of the VEGAS.com family was the victim of tonight's tragic and senseless killing at the Excalibur," said VEGAS.com COO Bryan Allison. "Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends."

Guests at the hotel described a chaotic scene as the shooting happened.

"People were getting ran over, it was pandemonium. They were getting tramped over," one hotel guest told Action News. "There were shoes lying on the ground, there was food on the ground. It was crazy."

A message posted to the Excalibur's Twitter page that night read, "An isolated incident has occured at Excalibur this evening, local authorities have the matter under control."

Later, a Twitter post on the Excalibur's page read, "Due to the efforts of our staff and local authorities, Excalibur is safe and fully operational."
