How would CCSD handle tragedy similar to Connecticut?
Clark County, NV (KTNV) -- With the massive school shooting in Connecticut, it leaves a big question for parents with children in Clark County: How would they be notified if a tragedy like this happened in the Valley?
The Clark County School District told Action News they would likely notify all parents in the entire district about such a severe incident. They'd use the ParentLink System.
All parents are automatically enrolled in the program with the telephone number they provide the school.
The system allows individual campuses to send out information, but it can also be used to send a district-wide message.
Should such a tragic event occur in Clark County, that message would likely include all the immediate information the district could confirm, and it would be information specifically about the affected campus, including when and where parents could pick up their children.
Another thing parents here are likely wondering, how ready is the school district for an active shooting scenario, as it relates to training and response?
"What we do is we want to ensure parents the plan is in place and we will give them direction through ParentLink or some type of communication, so that they know that an event is occurring and we ask them to follow our procedures," said Rosemary Virtuoso, CCSD Threat Crisis Response Dept.
