Second suspect arrested in murder-for-hire highway shooting

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A second suspect has been arrested following an alleged murder-for-hire highway shooting.

The shooting happened in Nov. north of Las Vegas on Interstate 15 near the Valley of Fire.

39-year-old Richard William Pearson of Las Vegas has been identified has the second suspect in this crime.

As a result of tips from the community and an investigation conducted by Las Vegas Police, Pearson was taken into custody on Wednesday on Birdsong Way in Las Vegas.

Pearson is being held at the Clark County Detention Center where he faces several charges including attempted murder with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit murder.

The victim was identified as Robert Bessey.

Detectives said Robert's adopted son shot at him while they were both driving on I-15.

Robert called 911, reporting his car was shot at. He was shot in the neck and taken to the hospital. He underwent surgery and is recovering.

Police later arrested his adopted son, 21-year-old Michael Bessey on attempted murder charges.
