Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- December 12, 2012 - 12-12-12 - is the last time we'll see the same number appear three times on the calendar for the next 88 years. That means most of us will probably never see it happen again, unless you were born today.

Ella Marie Mallo is one of many babies who have come into this world, with a little once-a-century good luck. Action News got the privilege of meeting her.

"It's very hard to explain how happy I feel," says Ella's mom, Petra. "It's just incredible. The best feeling in the world."

Ella was born just after 12 p.m. on 12-12-12, at St. Rose Dominican Hospital's San Martin campus in the southwest valley.

"We really didn't expect it," Petra says. "The due date is still a week and a half away. But I started having contractions early today, and it all happened so fast."

For Petra, and her husband Tom, the date is just the icing on the cake.

"The most important thing is we have a healthy baby," Tom says.

Ella is the couple's first child. And it seems luck may be on their side already. The newborn has barely fussed or cried at all, in her first few hours of life.

"We first saw her at the same time," Tom describes. "She barely cried. She looked very peaceful when she came into the world. This is one of the most beautiful things that has ever happened to us."

Making it a day they'll never forget, because of much more than just the numbers.
