Couples tie the knot in Las Vegas on 12-12-12
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- It is not the end of the world quite yet and many people are taking advantage of a rare date -- 12/12/12 -- to get married.
Chapels around Las Vegas are really taking advantage of the special date because it is the last time that the month, day and year will all the be same number until January 1, 2101.
Many people have superstitions about triple numbers and the number 12 especially.
The number one is considered a Yang number and two is a Yin number.
So, some couples think that the number 12 symbolizes balance. Others just like the date because it is easy to remember.
Couples have been lining up since midnight to get married at the Little White Wedding Chapel in downtown Las Vegas.
According to David's Bridal, 7,500 couples are planning on getting married around the country today.
The Clark County Marriage License Bureau says that it was swamped on Tuesday with couples wanting 12/12/12 as their wedding date.
On a typical Monday, the bureau sees about 200 couples. This Monday, there were 550. On Tuesday, they were expecting as many as 800.
The chapel expects to be busy throughout the day.
