Local radio station collects more than 3,200 bikes for kids
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A local radio station's annual toy drive broke another record this year.
98.5 KLUC-FM's Chet Buchanan and the Morning Zoo wrapped up their 14th annual toy drive on Monday.
The drive took place over a span of 12 days. Radio host Chet Buchanan spent that time camped out on a piece of scaffolding high above the parking lot of NV Energy.
It is one of the largest and longest-running single location toy drive in the world.
More than 3,200 bikes were donated this year and $268,000 in cash and gift cards was collected.
Many local celebrities stopped by to lend their support (and made donations) throughout the event. They included the Blue Man Group, Ted Petty, Rick and Chumlee from "Pawn Stars," Andre Agassi and Steffi Graff, 50 Cent, and Holly Madison.
Sponsors of the annual event included NV Energy, Walmart & Sam’s Club, Century Link, Centennial Toyota, Nevada State Bank, Chevron, Palms & N9ne Group, Doctor’s Express, G. Dallas Horton, The Jewelers of Las Vegas, Las Vegas Carpenter’s Union, Brand Energy & Infrastructure Services, Blue Star Barricades, Sin City Portables, and Cooling & Power Rentals.
