Sandoval announces appointments to Nevada boards
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval is announcing new members to the state's tourism and economic development boards.
Sandoval on Monday appointed Brian Ayala to the Nevada Commission on Tourism and Victor Chaltiel to the Governor's Board of Economic Development.
Both appointments are effective immediately.
Ayala is president of Ayala's Concession Group, an airport retail business. Sandoval says his experience gives him insight into Las Vegas' vital tourism industry.
Chaltiel is founder and chairman of Redhills Ventures, a venture capital fund. He previously led a Las Vegas-based company that specializes in reducing health care costs by limiting fraud, waste and abuse.
The governor says Chaltiel's knowledge of the health care industry will help Nevada expand that sector and assist economic development efforts.
Chaltiel ran unsuccessfully for Las Vegas mayor in 2011.
