Restaurants, wineries help raise money for Sandy victims

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A local benefit was held Sunday in the Valley to raise money for Hurricane Sandy victims.

"Start Spreadin' the News" was held at New York, New York Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

The event featured celebrity chefs with roots in both New York City and Las Vegas.

Attendees could try foods and drinks prepared by the chefs.

It cost $100 to attend and all the proceeds will go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for Sandy victims.

More than 20 restaurants and several wineries were at Sunday's benefit.

At last check, the event had raised more than $100,000.
