Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A memorial service for John Fredericks, a longtime meteorologist in the Las Vegas Valley, was held Saturday morning at Canyon Ridge Christian Church.

More than 200 people showed up for the service which featured remembrances from former Las Vegas anchor John Overall, former anchor Kendall Tenney, anchor Casey Smith, and best friend John Tutora.

Fredericks, who was also known for his tremendous love of animals, passed away in hospice Nov. 23. He was 57 at the time of his death.

Fredericks was on air in Southern Nevada for more than a decade, starting in 1995. His Golden Lab, Jordan, often appeared on air with Fredericks. His ashes have been buried with Jordan at the Craig Road Pet Cemetery.

Both of their names are now on the headstone, along with a picture of the two of them.
