Carson City, NV (KTNV) -- A woman who survived a harrowing ordeal, stranded in the Sierra Nevada Mountains for nearly a week, is said to be doing remarkably well.

Paula Lane is recovering at a hospital in Carson City.

She and her boyfriend were driving, when they became stuck in the snow in a remote area, with no cell service.

The boyfriend died trying to get help.

When it became clear he wasn't coming back, Lane set out using a hollow tree for shelter, eating snow and tomatoes a relative had given her.

Her brother found her alongside a road. She suffered mild frostbite and malnutrition.

Doctors call Lane's survival and recovery nothing short of miraculous.

Her family said she's looking forward to getting out of the hospital and going back home to her twin 11-year-old sons.
