Power restored after truck hits pole on East Sahara
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Approximately 1,200 people initially lost power this morning after a truck hit a pole near East Sahara Avenue and Atlantic Street.
According to initial reports, the accident happened around 5:30 a.m. this morning.
Las Vegas police were brought in to help control traffic at East Sahara and South Eastern Avenues because the traffic light was affected.
In addition, the Department of Motor Vehicles on East Sahara temporarily had to close its doors and Knudson Middle School called parents to tell them to keep their children home for the day.
NV Energy was able to restore power much sooner than anticipated though and the DMV was able to reopen. Knudson says that it will not count any student absent today because of the phone call.
NV Energy says that the pole will have to be completely replaced. That means that about 40 percent of those without power could be affected for several hours.
One person was transported after the crash to Sunrise Trauma with minor injuries.
It is not known yet what caused the crash or if any charges would be filed.
Action News will update this story if new information is received.
