One person killed in possible drag racing crash on Maryland Parkway
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- One person was killed when a vehicle crashed into a light pole Friday night. Las Vegas Police said drag racing may have been involved.
It happened around 9:15 p.m. on Maryland Parkway, north of Mesquite Avenue.
Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicate a 1999 Acura Integra was traveling north on Maryland, when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The driver failed to stay in his lane, and slid onto the center median. The right side of his vehicle struck a light pole.
The driver and both passengers were taken to UMC Trauma. One of the passengers, a 21-year-old man from North Las Vegas, was pronounced dead at the hospital. His name has not been released.
The driver and another passenger were treated for serious injuries. Both are also 21-year-old males from North Las Vegas.
Metro told Action News they believe multiple vehicles may have been drag racing when the crash happened.
They said another vehicle may have also spun out of control, and then drove away.
