Nevada seniors warned about possible scams
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Nevada State Contractors Board, in collaboration with the Nevada Health and Human Services Agency, hosted a senior awareness program in Las Vegas to raise awareness of scams targeting seniors and offered tips on how seniors can protect themselves.
They also talked about the resources available to victims of abuse.
Between July 2010 and June 2011, 4,300 elderly abuse cases were reported to the Nevada Health and Human Services Aging and Disability Services Division.
Pamela Smith admits that many seniors like herself are naive. She's thankful there was a program where she could learn what to look out for.
Similar awareness programs have been put on through the state.
