Morning Zoo team holds annual toy drive for kids
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The holidays are right around the corner and the Las Vegas community is stepping up to make sure that every child gets a toy.
For the 14th year in a row, radio host Chet Buchanan and the Morning Zoo team are holding a toy drive for HELP of Southern Nevada.
It has become one of the most unique and longest-running toy drives anywhere.
The around-the-clock toy drive is unique because Buchanan spends the entire time perched on top of a 30-foot tall piece of scaffolding.
Last year, the toy drive surpassed its goal and filled 16 fifty-foot long trucks with new toys and bikes. They also received $200,000 in cash and gift cards, which helped more than 3,500 people in Southern Nevada.
This year they are hoping to raise even more and they are off to a very good start.
On Thursday, they received more than 100 bikes and $25,000 in gift cards. Part of that donation came from the cast of Las Vegas' popular show "Pawn Stars."
If you would like to make a donation, you can drop off an unwrapped toy, gift card or cash through Dec. 10.
The toy drive is taking place in the parking lot of NV Energy on West Sahara Avenue near Jones Boulevard.
