Construction worker killed on I-15 identified
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Authorities have identified a 26-year-old road construction worker killed in an accident in the median of Interstate 15 north of Las Vegas.
Clark County coroner's officials say Michael Angelo Garcia died after the incident about 8:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson says Garcia had either been loading or unloading materials from a vehicle when the equipment fell on him.
Nevada Department of Transportation spokesman Damon Hodge says the man was a subcontractor working on an NDOT project. Damon says the agency is paving and doing related work in the area, which is not far from the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Authorities say the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
