Woman battling gigantism celebrates milestone
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A local woman with a rare genetic disorder continues to beat the odds.
Tanya Angus, who is battling gigantism, celebrated her birthday on Tuesday.
Tanya stands nearly 7 feet and weighs 400 pounds. She was diagnosed with Acromegaly about 10 years ago.
The disease is caused by a tumor pushing on Tanya's pituitary gland, causing an overload of growth hormone.
Her family held a surprise party to celebrate her 34 birthday.
Tanya and her mother say she's finally making progress now. Her doctors say her body has stopped growing for the time being, and are hopeful that will prolong her life.
