Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The Shade Tree Shelter is celebrating a cost-cutting addition to their facility that will help them keep their money for their mission. It's a new solar carport. The sun-powered carport was donated by Black Rock Solar to help the shelter meet its bottom line.

The Shade Tree provides 100,000 nights of shelter each year to homeless and abused women, children and their pets. The non-profit says the port will help them pay their energy bills after many of their grants have been cut in the last few years.
