Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Now that Black Friday and Cyber Monday have come and gone, it's time to start thinking about giving back this holiday season. Tuesday is the start of a new movement called "Giving Tuesday."

The day started with a non-profit in New York and the idea spread through Facebook and social media sites. Charities across the nation are participating --- some small charities and other big names like United Way and the Red Cross.

Patrons don't have to donate to only a participating charity, Giving Tuesday wants people to donate to any charity, no amount is too small.

During the holiday season charity fills a big need in the community, many of our local charities are hurting for funds to feed and house the needy.
