Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Small businesses across Southern Nevada are trying to get their turn at making a profit by enticing shoppers to participate in Small Business Saturday.

Saturday, Nov. 24 was the day when shoppers were encouraged to go out and support the small businesses in their area, and downtown made it a little easier for them by bringing everyone together.

For the third year, small businesses got together in front of the El Cortez to show off their wares. There was quite a bit of variety. Everything from clothes, jewelry, comics and even sweet treats. Small businesses in Las Vegas count on Saturday to make money, and say this event helps bring customers still looking to finish their holiday shopping to one centralized location.

"We have to support the small guys. Without them we're going to be in big trouble so it's good. Yeah the big guys have their place, but the small businesses have their place too. And that's why we're here. We came down from Summerlin, and we still have a few things on our list to fill so hopefully we can get that done today," says David Danielson who's shopping for Christmas gifts.

Many of the businesses hope to do well enough to encourage more customers to shop at their stores in the future.
