Two-alarm apartment fire kills one person, injures another
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- One person is dead after an apartment fire at Alpine Village Apartments on Brush Street.
70 firefighters with Las Vegas Fire & Rescue and Clark County Fire Department battled the blaze at the apartment complex near Charleston and Decatur Boulevards Saturday afternoon, which started just before 1 p.m.
When crews arrived, they reported heavy flames and smoke coming from the second story of an apartment building, according to Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Spokesman Tim Szymanski.
One woman was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation. The deceased victim is believed to be a male, however, investigators were not allowed into the apartment immediately while crews continued to secure the apartment units.
Four units were damaged by the fire. Two on the second story were damaged by the fire. Two on the first floor sustained water damage. Several other units were slightly damaged.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Las Vegas Fire and Rescue.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department will determine whether foul play was involved while the Clark County Coroner determines the victim’s actual cause of death.
