NV Energy may charge customers who don't want smart meters
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- There's new information for NV Energy customers. The company may make people who opt out of the smart meter program to pay up.
The company is asking the Public Utilities Commission to help them establish the alternative system for the estimated 10,000 customers who want to opt out of the new technology.
But it would cost anywhere from $98 to $107 for installation and a $10 monthly fee.
So far, NV Energy has installed more than one-million smart meters.
