Burned duplex near Stratosphere used by homeless people
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas and Clark County firefighters were called to a fire at a duplex at about 8:25 a.m. this morning on Rexford Place, near East Oakey and Las Vegas Boulevard South.
Upon arrival, smoke and flames could be seen coming from the rear of the vacant one-story brick building. The fire was originally on the outside of the duplex but it had burned up to the roof line and was starting to enter the attic.
Firefighters were able to extinguished the fire quickly.
Neighbors told fire investigators that the vacant duplex was used by homeless people on a regular basis.
No one was injured during the fire. Nearly all the damage was confined to the outside. Damage was estimated at $10,000.
