Man critically injured after hitting pole in NW Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A 50-year-old man is in critical condition after his vehicle struck a traffic signal pole early this morning in northwest Las Vegas.
The incident happened at about 12:23 a.m. this morning. A 2012 Ford Escape was traveling eastbound on Cheyenne Avenue approaching Rainbow Boulevard when it failed to maintain its travel lane.
The vehicle drove onto the raised island between the right travel lane and right turn lane and hit a signal light post on the island.
The vehicle suffered severe damage and the driver of the Ford Escape was transported to University Medical Center's Trauma unit.
The driver, 50-year-old Lee Turner, exhibited signs of intoxication and was charged with driving under the influence.
The accident remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
