Local non-profit needs toys for needy local children
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A local non-profit is worried that it will not be able to provide toys to local children this year.
More than a thousand foster children in Clark County are at risk of going through the holiday season without getting a single Christmas present.
The saddest part is that those particular children have already been through so much and typically receive very few presents at Christmas or any other time of the year.
They are the focus of an organization know as CASA, which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates.
CASA works with abused and neglected children so that they don't get lost in the foster-care system.
Every year, CASA helps provide a Christmas present to nearly 2,500 of those children.
But this year, the economy has taken a toll and the organization lost several of its toy drive sponsors.
Donation boxes are now sitting empty.
A local company is hoping to change all of that.
Gavish Realty is asking families and other businesses to step up.
Gavish Realty will have donation boxes available at both its Henderson and Summerlin locations for the next two weeks.
Their offices are located at 9436 W. Lake Mead Boulevard (near Sun City Boulevard) and 1920 E. Serene Avenue (near Spencer Street).
