Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A highway shooting that happened north of Las Vegas early Wednesday morning was part of a murder conspiracy, according to police.

The victim was identified as Robert Bessey. Detectives said Robert's adopted son shot at him while both were driving on Interstate 15 near the Valley of Fire at about 4:30 a.m.

Robert called 911, reporting his car was shot at. Arriving units found he'd been shot in the neck and took him to a nearby hospital. 

Police later arrested his adopted son, 21-year-old Michael Bessey on attempted murder charges.

Michael Bessey's uncle, 39-year-old Richard William Pearson is also a wanted in connection with the shooting. Pearson is described as 5-feet 6-inches tall with a shaved head and blue eyes.

Robert Bessey underwent surgery and is recovering at home.
