Mexican airline Interjet begins Las Vegas flights
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Airport and airline officials are marking the inaugural flight of an airline providing service from Mexico City to Las Vegas.
The inaugural Interjet flight from Mexico City's Toluca Airport was the focus of a Thursday morning ceremony at McCarran International Airport.
Las Vegas is the fifth U.S. destination for Interjet. Others are Miami, New York, San Antonio, Texas, and Orange County, Calif.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority says Mexico is big source of international travelers to Las Vegas, attracting 332,000 visitors by air in 2011.
Interjet service from Toluca will bring the number of nonstop flights into Las Vegas from Mexico to 44 per week.
