Man shot in neck while driving near Valley of Fire
9 A.M. UPDATE: NHP now says the man received a non-life threatening injury and will be released from the hospital later Wednesday.
The investigation is ongoing.
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Nevada Highway Patrol was called to the scene of a shooting close to mile marker 70 on Interstate 15, which is near the Valley of Fire State Park.
According to Trooper Loy Hixson with NHP, a man was traveling southbound on I-15 when another vehicle pulled alongside him and fired a single shot.
The 49-year-old man was struck in the back of the neck and was transported to University Medical Center Trauma in critical condition.
The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
There is no information as to what led to the shooting. Very little information is available about the suspect's vehicle except that it may have been a gold-colored Chevrolet Suburban or Tahoe.
