You Ask. We Investigate. Update
Owner who can't care for horses cited again
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A horse owner has two of her animals trapped in her backyard.
It's a story viewers asked Action News to investigate after they discovered the horrible conditions the animals were being kept in.
Here's the update on Tonia Thompson's horses.
We found them trapped against a brick wall in her backyard, separated from the pool by a fence.
After our stories aired, animal control officers cited Thompson for a third time and a horse rescue group called L.E.A.N., which stands for Local Equine Adoption Network, offered to help Tonia get her horses the care they need.
Paula Isenbarg of L.E.A.N. told Action News, "We're waiting for everything to be cleared by the county and the city to make sure that we're not interfering with anything that the county and the city is currently planning on doing."
Isenbarg says Tonia told her she can't afford to board her horses. Isenbarg says that can cost a minimum of $200 per horse and that's if the owner provides food.
Isenbarg says L.E.A.N. is looking into ways to help Tonia care for the horses until she can afford to do it herself.
Keep it tuned to Action News for updates on this developing story.
