Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The city of Las Vegas will start work on a three-phase to build new sidewalks in older neighborhoods.

The goal is to improve walkability for downtown residents.

The completion of the project will make those neighborhoods safer and more accessible for everyone, especially residents with disabilities.

The $1.8 million price tag on the project is being funded by the community development block grant.

Project leaders expect it to be done by the end of March.
