NJ Gov. Christie to visit Las Vegas this week
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey will be in Las Vegas this week for the Republican Governors Association meeting.
Governor Christie is set to arrive Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. and leave on Thursday.
The New Jersey governor made a controversial comment last fall in reference to Las Vegas.
"There is no reason people should go to Las Vegas in the summer," Christie said in September 2011. "Why would you go to the middle of the desert in the summer? You'd have to be stupid to do that."
Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman responded to the comment soon after.
"A little heat with our state-of-the art, energy efficient, climate-controlled resorts, is certainly much more inviting than having to deal with some of the weather they have had to endure in New Jersey recently," she said.
To the knowledge of Action News, Governor Christie has not visited Las Vegas since making the jab.
