Retailers getting jump on Black Friday
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- It is still a week and a half until the biggest shopping day of the year but many retailers are already getting a jump on the day known as Black Friday.
Since so many shoppers were already at various stores by midnight and earlier last year on Thanksgiving, retailers have decided to take advantage of that again.
Walmart, Toys "R" Us, Target, KMart and Sears have all announced that they will be open on Thanksgiving.
There is backlash though. Not all of the employees at those store are happy about the earlier opening.
They want to be able to spend Thanksgiving with their families and not working.
One Target employee has gathered 166,000 signatures on a petition asking retailers to give Thanksgiving back to them.
About 51 percent of consumers plan to go holiday shopping on Thanksgiving weekend according to a new study from the consulting firm Bain.
