Court date set for woman accused of voting twice
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A lawyer for a Nevada woman accused of trying to vote twice in the presidential election says she looks forward to defending herself in court.
Defense attorney Ozzie Fumo said Thursday that Roxanne Rubin wanted to test whether anyone would stop her when she allegedly went to a second polling place and tried to vote 30 minutes after casting her early ballot Oct. 29 in Henderson.
Fumo says it wasn't a political move.
Rubin pleaded not guilty Tuesday to voting more than once in the same election. The felony charge carries a penalty of up to four years in state prison.
A judge set an evidentiary hearing Jan. 24.
Rubin is a registered Republican. She's free following her arrest Friday after an investigation by an FBI election integrity task force.
