Man arrested in hit-and-run in Sparks; victim ID'd
SPARKS, Nev. (AP) -- Sparks police have arrested a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run accident on Sparks Boulevard.
Police say 29-year-old Adam Walker of Sparks has admitted to driving the Ford Explorer that struck and killed 34-year-old Ernest Vargas of Sparks early Thursday.
He's being booked on suspicion of felony hit and run and driving on a suspended license.
Police say Vargas was walking northbound in the southbound lanes of Sparks Boulevard about 4 a.m. when he was hit. He was declared dead at the scene.
Investigators were able to locate Walker later Thursday after they spotted his vehicle in the Kiley Ranch area several miles north of the accident. He's being booked into the Washoe County Jail.
