Nevada crosses 1 million ballot mark, sets record
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Nevada has achieved record turnout after passing the 1 million ballot mark.
The state reported nearly 81 percent of the Nevada's active registered voters cast a ballot this election, inching past the 2008 general election turnout of 80 percent.
Election day brought out 25 percent of registered voters, while early voting brought 49 percent and absentee voting brought nearly 7 percent.
Washoe County reported nearly 79 percent turnout, and Clark County reported 81 percent turnout.
Long lines Tuesday forced some polling places to stay open nearly 90 minutes after the 7 p.m. deadline.
But officials with Secretary of State Ross Miller's office reported only minor technical problems and say nothing close to voter fraud has been found.
