Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Democrats gathered at Mandalay Bay on the Las Vegas Strip to watch election results come in.
The news of President Obama's re-election was received with cheers and celebration in the packed venue Tuesday night.
But more than the presidency was at stake in Nevada.
One of the most bitterly contested senate races -- between Dean Heller and Shelley Berkley -- remained tight as the night came to a close.
President Obama made several visits to Southern Nevada in the final months before the election, and called upon big names like Katy Perry and Eva Longoria to help encourage early voting.
