Police ID man shot after attempted carjackings
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Las Vegas police have identified a man who allegedly tried to carjack two vehicles before being shot by officers.
Police say 39-year-old Terry Rogaczewski was shot about 9:30 p.m. Saturday after pointing a gun at officers. He was treated at University Medical Center.
Investigators say a vehicle was driving into an apartment complex on Boulder Highway when a man approached the driver, pointed a gun and attempted to take the car. The driver escaped.
Police say the suspect then approached a second vehicle and fired at it. Authorities say the victim tried to flee but hit a wall at the complex before getting away.
Police say their shooting ensued after they tried talking to the suspect.
Rogaczewski faces charges of attempted murder, assault, robbery, shooting, and resisting an officer.
