Election Day polls close at 7 p.m. in Nevada
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Early voters can rest easy Tuesday and watch the numbers come in.
But, for those that have not yet voted, it's time to make your way down to your local polling place.
Polls opened at 7 a.m. Tuesday morning in Nevada. And those of you who haven't made up your mind, you could be the difference in a very tight presidential race as well as a U.S. senate race that is too close to call.
Sen. Dean Heller leads Congresswoman Shelley Berkley by a very slim margin. Their race could determine the balance in Nevada's senate.
Republicans only need four seats to take control.
In addition, the race for Congressional District Four will also come down to the wire.
Currently, polls show Danny Tarkanian leading over Steven Horsford. In District One, Dina Titus holds a comfortable lead over Chris Edwards.
Even though Tuesday is Election Day, neither campaign is planning on slowing down.
You will probably see candidates and campaign staff pounding the pavement and knocking on doors, hoping to drum up last minute support.
There are also things that voters can do to make the voting process smoother and faster, Voters should confirm that they are registered before heading out to the pools. They should also verify their voting location.
And, if voters fill out their sample ballots and bring it with them, it will speed up the actual voting.
More than 700,000 registered voters have already cast their votes in Nevada and 50,000 more Democrats than Republicans voted early.
The most recent polls show President Obama just 2.8 percentage points ahead of Mitt Romney in Nevada.
Back in 2008, Obama won the state by 12 percent.
The State of Nevada has picked 24 out of 25 presidential victors over the past 100 years, which is more than any other state according to the Associated Press.
And even though a woman was arrested last week for voting twice, Secretary of State Ross Miller expects everything to go smoothly.
Polling locations are listed on the voter registration card or you can find them here.
