PUC approves rate hike sought by Southwest Gas
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- Southwest Gas customers will be paying more under a rate increase approved by the Nevada Public Utilities Commission.
The Las Vegas Sun reports the commission has voted to allow the utility to raise its basic service charge by 20 percent for most customers.
The basic rate will jump from $9 to $10.80 per month.
It will apply to single-family homes in southern and northern Nevada and on multi-family residences in northern Nevada. The current $9 per month charge will remain the same for multi-family residences in southern Nevada.
The rates will become effective after commission staff reviews Southwest's plan to implement the decision.
