Parents fight to save Boys & Girls Club in Boulder City
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Parents in Boulder City are still fighting to save their local Boys & Girls Club.
They contacted Action News after learning last week that the Las Vegas Boys & Girls Club will close the Boulder City campus on Friday due to a lack of funding and a lack of staff.
Offers of help have poured in, but the parents say Boulder City's Safe Key program is too expensive, and the nearest Boys & Girls Club in Henderson is too far away.
They've contacted the Boys & Girls Club's regional office to negotiate forming their own board of directors and taking over the Boulder City campus themselves.
Ken Rose says, "Yes. We are willing to do that as parents and as a community, and I think we have the resources that we can pull that together if we get the approval from the Las Vegas chapter."
The parents also plan to petition Boulder City's mayor and city council to help them re-open the campus once it is closed.
