Las Vegas woman given key to the city for her generosity
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A local woman is given a key to the city for her efforts in making Las Vegas a better place to live.
Mary Vail has been involved with canned food drives with the Salvation Army, around the Valley, for quite some time.
The city recognized her efforts Sunday at Smith's at Rampart and Lake Mead.
Vail has been able to raise more than $400,000 in financial contributions for the city of Las Vegas.
When she spoke with Action News, she said she couldn't do it alone, "We just ask them to pick up one extra can of food while they're shopping and drop it off. And people are so generous, they'll come with carts, they'll come with bags of food. So it really does make a difference."
Vail was also given a certificate of appreciate by the city.
