Local Red Cross members being deployed to East Coast
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Local Red Cross staff are being deployed to the East Coast ahead of Hurricane Sandy.
Brooke Flake from Las Vegas is headed to the Disaster Operations Center in Washington, D.C.
She'll be assisting with American Red Cross preparation and response to the storm.
Flake will also be helping with fundraising, in anticipation of damage to homes and businesses, on the East Coast in the coming days.
"Basically we're going to be raising money for everything that we've already done, which we've prepositioned; supplies, food and sheltering supplies so that everything is ready when the storm hits, so we have everything we need. In order to do that, we need funds," said Flake.
Flake is scheduled to leave sometime Sunday.
Pat Moore is also headed to Maryland for Logistics Transportation. James Smyth and Stanley Thompson are headed to Albany, New York, for Mass Care Sheltering.
The Las Vegas American Red Cross has asked its staff to clear their schedules for Monday to focus on supporting response and fundraising for the hurricane.
