Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Las Vegas Boulevard has a new offering that sheds a lot of light on our city's glowing past.

The off-beat, smaller-scale tourist attraction known as the "Neon Bone Yard" has been expanded into a full-fledged museum and visitor's center.

The museum features a huge collection of the massive, glittering neon signs that once lit-up the Strip and Fremont Street.

The shell of the iconic La Concha Motel, which opened in the 1960s near the old Riviera Hotel and Casino, was moved and restored to house the new Neon Museum.

A grand opening was held Tuesday night for people who contributed to the project, which cost about $6 million.

The Neon Museum officially opens to the public for guided tours this Saturday. It's expected to attract a lot of visitors from all over the world.

The museum is also adding about 20 jobs to our local economy.

"This is going to be a true economic benefit for downtown Las Vegas, and it's going to be an added incentive for visitors," says Bill Marion, the Chairman of the Neon Museum's Board of Directors.

"Las Vegas has reinvented itself so many times," he says. "These signs are all that's left of some truly historic buildings, and these signs carry the stories of those buildings."

The Neon Museum is already being booked for movie and photo shoots.

The Neon Museum is located at 770 Las Vegas Blvd. For more information visit www.NeonMuseum.org.
