Two men arrested for storage unit thefts
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Two men in Henderson face theft and drug charges, and police fear some of their alleged victims might not know they are victims.
Henderson Police arrested 21-year-old William J. French and 45-year-old Steven R. Grevich on Friday. They got a tip that a unit was burglarized at the SmartStop Self Storage complex on Racetrack Road near Boulder Highway.
Henderson Police say French told them he and Grevich broke into units and replaced the locks with their own, so they could return later.
Police found eighteen units had been burglarized, and found stolen items in a in a unit the men had rented, and in Grevich's truck.
As word spread about the break-ins, customers rushed to check on their units.
Customer Trinity Flores told Action News she was surprised. She said she felt her items were secure, and added, "The staff and everything seems really nice. I noticed when I went in they have cameras and you can see it all on there."
French and Grevich face charges of possession of stolen property, burglary tools and methamphetamine.
Henderson Police urge SmartStop customers to check their storage units, and if anything is missing, to report it immediately.
