Family fights for answers in unsolved murder case
North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- An unsolved murder has a family painfully waiting for closure.
It's been two years since Darren Rael was shot and killed and no one knows who pulled the trigger.
The 44-year-old father of two was gunned down outside a home on Iverson Lane, near Gowan Road and Clayton Street, in North Las Vegas.
His family gathered there Monday night on the anniversary of his death.
Rael was a mechanic and handyman. He found the auto repair job on the popular website -- craigslist.
Police say the homeowner who hired Rael to fix his car was outside with Rael when a stranger approached and asked them for money. When they said they had none, the stranger pulled out a gun and shot Rael.
The gunman also tried to shoot the homeowner, but the weapon somehow malfunctioned and the stranger took off.
North Las Vegas Police say they have no new leads in this case, but are still actively investigating.
Rael's family refuses to give up their hope that his killer will be brought to justice.
"Someone, somewhere has to know something," says Rael's younger sister, Nicole Sena. "We're hoping for that little bit of information, that could point detectives in the right direction."
"We just want closure," says Rael's older sister Deborah Mills. "I want someone to pay for what happened to my brother."
