Teen passenger dies after car smashes into wall
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The teen passenger in a car that smashed into a wall on Monday morning is dead.
The Clark County Coroner's Office identified her as 16-year-old Mariel Mahuiztl. The cause of her death was due to multiple blunt force trauma, and has been ruled accidental.
The crash happened on South McCleod Drive near Desert Inn just before 9 a.m.
Witnesses told police the driver of a '94 Toyota Corolla was driving northbound on McCleod when it left the street, smashing into a residential block wall.
The driver, a 19-year-old man, and Mahuiztl, a passenger in the vehicle, were taken to Sunrise Hospital.
Mahuiztl was pronounced dead.
The driver suffered minor injuries.
Police are continuing to investigate what caused the crash.
