Coroner IDs man dead after stepping into turn lane
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Authorities have identified a 59-year-old pedestrian killed after stepping into a turn lane on Las Vegas Boulevard.
The Clark County coroner's office says Douglas Alan Reid died at University Medical Center after the crash about 8:40 p.m. Saturday, just south of Mesquite Street.
Police say Reid was crossing the boulevard outside a marked crosswalk and stepped off a median into a left turn lane. A 1998 Dodge Durango also entered the turn lane at the same time and hit Reid.
Police say the 72-year-old Las Vegas man driving the Durango was not injured.
Reid's death marks the 91st traffic-related fatality this year in Las Vegas police jurisdiction.
