Mohave Valley man crashes plane in mountain area

Mohave County, AZ (KTNV) -- 73-year-old John Edward Sable of Mohave Valley died Thursday afternoon after his plane crashed in a mountain area, approximately 35 miles southwest of Kingman.

The Mohave County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Units responded to the crash at about 12:10 p.m. after a motorist on Interstate 40 reported a plane hitting a mountain, north of the Santa Fe Road exit.

Apparently, Sable was traveling from Lake Havasu airport to an airfield in Fort Mohave. The plane was a 1972 Cessna 182p.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will be conducting an investigation.
